The period leading up to the funeral can be emotional and overwhelming and making the right decisions is not always easy. I guide people in finding their own way to express their final goodbyes, whatever their beliefs. There is no right or wrong way to grieve or celebrate the life of a person you loved.
As your Celebrant, my role is to guide and support you, to take care and time to talk with you and find out about your loved one and the ceremony that you would like. I will help you to decide, how you want to achieve your final farewell and it’s ok to change your mind, I understand that these decisions are very difficult.
The funeral service can offer comfort for family and friends. It’s a time to be together, to share special memories, hold loved ones, cry, and perhaps even laugh as you share music, poetry, memories, and stories that will help to acknowledge the loss of your loved one.
Ceremony Design
Firstly, I meet you in person and take the time that is needed to get to know you and the essence of the person who has died. You may want to invite family and friends to take part in the ceremony by means of readings, music, or personal tributes. With your input, I will write a personalised script, which we will check together and change, include or disregard any ideas you are not happy with. (It is ok to change your mind too.)
Ceremony
I will liaise with the funeral director prior to the service and on the day I will conduct the ceremony that reflects your personal wishes, supporting friends or family members who wish to take part.
(Some people opt for a more simple, intimate funeral ceremony, shortly after someone has died, followed by a larger memorial service at a later date. I can also help you plan and organise a memorial service if required.)
